SILAC media is prepared specifically for labeling experiments involving the use of stable amino acid isotopes. Several of the most commonly used media including for mammalian and insect cell cultures are available in formulations lacking L-arginine, L-lysine, L-leucine and L-methionine, the four mostly commonly used heavy isotope labeled amino acids. These are available both as powdered or liquid formulations
